UNDER THE HAT

A transmasculine Jack of all Trades and self-proclaimed hobbit, Jensen Sikora (they/them) is a creative problem-solver with a background in higher education and nonprofit arts administration. Having earned a Bachelor of Art in Creative Writing and a Master’s of Liberal Studies in Theatre Community from the University of Michigan-Flint, their creative works run the gamut from playwriting to illustration to graphic design. Jensen lives happily in a hobbit-house with their spouse and spoiled fur babies.
"A Jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one."

THE HABERDASHERY

You might be asking yourself, "how did you develop all of these disparate passions and skills?!" The simple answer is: lived experience. Yes, I've had some higher education. However, as life led me through academia and my career, I just picked things up along the way. I saw a puzzle that needed solving, and I figured it out. But, if I had to ruminate on it...

  • CREATIVE:  While I did take some introduction classes on art in college, I attribute these skills to being born in a family of artists. My father was the graphic art director for the local ABC affiliate. My mother had a knack for sewing, music, writing, art, and cooking. To varying degrees, my six siblings and I absorbed many of those talents. Over the years, I kept picking things up, kept pushing myself to learn whatever I could.

  • ORGANIZED:  I love problem-solving. Much to the chagrin of childhood friends (and the joy of their parents), I'd often clean and reorganize their rooms during sleepovers. (Yeah, I was that guy.) Eventually, as I embarked on my career, this affinity for organization translated into elaborate spreadsheets, operations manuals, and scheduling programs. Fun fact: sometimes I dream about solutions to challenges I faced during the day!

  • FUN-LOVING:  Our family holiday traditions always include eating until we can't move, then playing board games. Also, as I encountered tough times in my life, I began to realize that wonder, imagination, and laughter were integral to growth. It's that spoonful of sugar we need to swallow hard truths, to evolve. I try to bring joy to others whenever I can.

  • INTUITIVE:  My mom was my partner-in-intuition. When I was five years old, I watched her give a tarot reading from afar. The moment she left the table, I snatched up her deck, hid myself away, and began studying each card with laser focus. This interest immediately developed into a fascination with the world's religions and other divination practices.

In other words, though I had mentors along the way, I'm mostly self taught.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  1. What are your rates?

I charge $50 per hour for creative, organizational, and game design. The full estimate depends on the scope of the project, which is discussed at length during a virtual consultation meeting. Prices for intuitive work are included in my shop.

  2. When do you collect payment?

I require a $200 deposit for design projects, but then submit invoices for payment at major project milestones. In the case that the total cost is less than $200, I require the client pay half up front and half upon completion.

  3. How do you accept payments?

Clients can pay me through my website, but also via Venmo or PayPal, using the “Friends & Family” option.

  4. What are your return and refund policies?

Refunds and reimbursements for goods and services depend on many factors. Below are my policies, organized by type of good or service.
  • GOODS, CUSTOMIZED:  Because customized goods were made for a specific individual, they cannot be returned for a refund.

  • GOODS, NOT CUSTOMIZED:  Standard items in my shop may be returned for a full refund, but the cost of shipping is at the expense of the buyer.

  • SERVICES, DEPOSIT:  The required deposit ($200.00) of design-based services is only refundable when less than 4 hours of service have been completed. This refund is prorated based on the $50.00 hourly rate.

  • SERVICES, IN-PROGRESS:  When a resolution cannot be reached on an in-progress project, clients are eligible for a discount on the current invoice. This action ends the service agreement.

  • TAROT PARTY, DEPOSIT:  The required security deposit ($40.00) will be returned to the party host at the end of the event, provided that the minimum guest requirement is met. If expected guests are absent, the deposit is forfeited to cover that expense.

  • TAROT READINGS:  This service is non-refundable.
